Kevin Drum Talks Lead and Crime on Melissa Harris-Perry | Mother Jones.
Six micrograms of lead exposure—a quantity so small it’s invisible—may be enough to permanently alter a child’s development and increase crime in a community. Watch Mother Jones political blogger Kevin Drum discuss his new cover story on lead on MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry.
REALLY fascinating stuff. My daughter had lead poisoning when she was 2. We treated it aggressively (massive amounts of calcium and iron) and the public health nurse said it was the fastest reversal of lead levels she had ever seen. Still, her speech was delayed. She didn’t speak until she was 4, but then it was in complete sentences. We were fortunate. She had no other delays and she has no behavioral issues that are associated with lead poisoning.
And now,I’m that annoying Mom that badgers other Moms to have their children screened for lead periodically.
Me too. Lead’s a scary thing.
