I’m trying to sort through the ridiculous vinyl collection in my house to figure to what’s worth keeping and what should be used to craft with (or sell, I suppose). Half of what I have is LPs dropped off at my house my family members who think my house is a recycling center or clearing house for old stuff. Well…it sort of IS ,I guess.
The point it, I had no idea what the hell this album was. Intriguing album art much like the cover of a book reeled me in.
So, the title track kicks off the album…and I found out that I did already know this song. I mean, I’ve heard it anyway. Maybe when I was growing up. This song came out in 1070 and has that classic 70′s horn- swagger thing going on. It sounds like it should played in one of those grindhouse movies.
The lyrics are creepy.
Hey, well I’m the friendly stranger
In the black sedan
Oh won’t you hop inside my car?
I got pictures, got candy, I am a lovable man
I’d like to take you to the nearest star
I’m your vehicle baby
I’ll take you anywhere you wanna go
I’m your vehicle woman
By now I’m sure you know
That I love ya (love you)
Need ya (need you)
I want to, got to have you child
Great God in heaven, you know I love you
See? Creepy. But it was apparently Warner’s fastest selling single ever. Either no one listened to lyrics or the skeevey pedophile analogy was sexy then.
The rest of the songs weren’t terrible. There’s a cover of Eleanor Rigby on it that isn’t horrible.
I don’t think I’m keeping this, though. These songs just get filed away in my brain as part of the soundtrack of my life.

I have heard this song before on the radio…and I suppose that that alone dates me. I did not know the name of the song, but as soon as I read the lyrics, I realized that, of course, I’d heard it. It was a big hit in the 70s.
This was THE song for our marching band, pep band in university!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE vehicle!!!
Oh wow. This is pretty horrible. LOL
