On the turntable today, Blondie’s Autoamerican. It’s my vintage vinyl…as in, the one I used to lip sync to in my bedroom when I was 8. This wasn’t my favorite Blondie. I was more fond of Parallel Lines . Listening to Autoamerican now, I can understand why I wasn’t so into it then. It’s quite a bit more sophisticated than Parallel Lines was. I dare say it was innovative, even.
Related sidenote: A few summers ago, I was walking down the street, wearing a Blondie t-shirt. A Mennonite man stopped me to ask for directions . I told him where he needed to go and as he walked away,he said, “Thank you so much, Blondie.” I smile every time I wear that t-shirt now, thinking of that.

I love Blondie. And Mennonites. Except when I was waitressing, because the Mennonites in my neck of the woods were not generous tippers.
I had a fight once with s Mennonite lady at a yard sale! She was quibbling over $5 I was asking for a baby walker. Sheesh.
